For the past few days, word on the street had it that the arguably
popular socialite-cum-entrepreneur, Vera Sidika had dumped her new
found lover, Otile Brown.
Their relationship had for months been the talk of town, turning heads
with their blossoming public display of affection.

Rumours of their apparent break-up were fuelled when it surfaced

Days later, Otile Brown also took down all of Vera’s photos from his
Instagram account and unfollowed her.
It is now official that the celebrated couple are very much together
and they are far from calling it quits.
Otile Brown has released a new song ‘Baby love’ in which he is
constantly reassuring Vera of his love.
The curvaceous owner of a multi-million beauty parlour in the city is

Tay-K
Tay-K

Tay-K may be facing capital murder charges and a new lawsuit, but
he seemed happy while remaining behind bars.
A new video showing Taymor McIntyre, Tay-K ‘s real name, behind
bars. We’re told that the clip was shot recently during a family visit
and you can hear the female telling the rapper to say his for her
Instagram. The rapper, who is also known as Tay-K 47, is currently
in jail awaiting trial for a capital murder charge . He will be tried as
an adult and could be sent to prison for life if found guilty.
Tay-K and his management team also have some fresh legal troubles
on their hands after the family of both victims filed a $1 million
lawsuit against the rapper and six others for profiting off the
murder of their loved ones. Tay-K gained fame last year when his
debut single “The Race” began a massive hit. The single went
platinum while the rapper was behind bars and was one of the
biggest rap songs on the airwaves last year.
McIntyre is being accused of killing Ethan Walker during a home
invasion and shooting Zachary Beloate who survived the attack. The
families are suing Tay-K, as well as, his manager Eza Averill,
88Classics Records, and owner Joshua White. The lawsuit claims that
the rapper is profiting off the crimes which helped elevate his career.
They want $1 million in damages.
Tay-K’s hit song “The Race” was released around the same time he
committed the alleged crimes. Two of his accomplices were sentenced
to life in prison for their involvement in the murder. The Texas
rapper is currently awaiting trial and has maintained his innocence.
Despite this latest development in his legal fight, Tay-K seemed
unbothered and was spotted smiling for the Gram while giving his
fans a shout-out.

Sean Paul
Sean Paul

Sean Paul has opened up about Demi Lovato’s recent overdoes and
his own struggles with recreational drugs.

Demi Lovato made headlines last week when she was rushed to the
hospital after going unconscious due to a drug overdose . The pop
star has been battling substance abuse for years and was very open
about it. In fact, she recently released a song about her relapse
leading fans to become worried about her well being. “I just want to
send love to Demi. She’s a beautiful girl and a great, great artist,”
Sean Paul told the Daily Star.

The dancehall star says he himself has been smoking a bit too much,
but says the music industry sometimes pushes artists to that point.
“The music industry in itself is very excessive,” he added. “We are
always working in studios, performing, traveling and sometimes you
feel you need a break and the break is to go towards things that
don’t give you a break.”

“I do smoke too much, sometimes that’s a relief for me,” Sean Paul
continues. The “Mad Love” deejay explained how he copes with the
stresses of being a global artist saying he tries to stay grounded
and close to his family who often lift him up whenever he is feeling
down.

Sean Paul is one of the most commercially successful artists in
dancehall’s history. He has sold over 25 million records over the
span of his career and is still going strong.

Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm
Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm

There is a tense atmosphere over Vybz Kartel’s camp as the
dancehall star awaits the appeal court’s verdict.

The three-judge panel in the Jamaica Court of Appeal is now
deliberating the case presented before them by the defense and
prosecution. The court aired arguments from both sides over a one
and a half week span including some bombshell revelation about
prosecutorial misconduct and perceived bias from the trial judge. A
representative for the Gaza camp told Urban Islandz on Monday
that Vybz Kartel and his team are nervous as they sit tight and
await the verdict.

“Everyone nervous even the boss [Vybz Kartel] tense because we
don’t know when and what the verdict will be,” a rep for the deejay
told us. “We are confident in what our lawyers presented in court but
as I previous state, the system will try to keep us down, so we are
hoping for the best.”

The defense attorneys have also expressed their confidence in
winning this appeal after presenting a rock solid argument in the
Appeal Court this month. Nevertheless, the prosecution pushed back
hard while asking the judges to keep the four accused men behind
bars.
Vybz Kartel, Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John are all
now serving life for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Cops say
the four men beat Williams to death on August 16, 2011. The defense
team contends that law enforcement conjured up evidence including
text messages and tampered phone to secure a conviction. Kartel’s
lawyers also asked the judges not to order a new trial, but to,
instead, exonerate the four men of the murder conviction.

Vybz Kartel and his co-accused have maintained their innocence
and are now patiently awaiting their appeal verdict. The court
didn’t give a timeline on when they would arrive at a verdict but
noted that some priority would be put on the case since it is of great
interest to the public.

Popcaan
Popcaan

Popcaan wants to see more unity in dancehall amidst the release of
his hugely successful new album Forever .

If you haven’t yet heard Popcaan new album, then you’re missing out
because it’s one of the best dancehall projects released in the past
few years. Forever is set to be debut at the top of the Billboard
Reggae Chart this week following a strong debut. Popcaan did an
interview with Winford Williams last week following his set at Reggae
Sumfest where he spoke about the global impact of the album and calls
for unity among dancehall artists.

“For now its UK and Canada because you know I’ve never been to
America until further notice,” Popcaan said when asked where in the
world his music is most popular. “Like now it’s UK really like them
love my music differently, like old and young. I am being played on
some different radio stations and me really appreciate it.”

“Me want the youths them to just use this as an example and don’t
bother with the hype and hype up themselves before time you see
me,” Popcaan added. “Because music is way bigger than people think,
it’s not about hype and ego, it’s about uniting and making the music
go further. The only thing that’s mashing up out music now is lack of
unity. As a artist get three songs or four songs him feel like him
bigger than Bounty Killer and Beenie. Remember you have to always
show respect.”

Popcaan also called out his dancehall comrades for not showing his
album more love even after getting a lot of respect from the hip-hop
community. “The hip-hop industry is not like that, them show love to
each other,” the deejay added. “Me see people from overseas a post
my album cover more than all dancehall artists. Them thing there
stupid.”

Popcaan’s new album Forever is now available across all streaming
platforms.

Spice is threatening to sue VP Records over her album release.

It’s been more than a decade since the dancehall community has
been waiting on an album from the new queen Spice . The dancehall
diva shed some light on the status of the album of the album in a
rant on IG. The “Sheets” deejay says VP Records is holding her
album hostage and now she is threatening to go to court to have the
long-awaited project release.
“’m tired of fans asking me about my album I’ve been signed to them
for 10 years and they never ever released one album for me,” Spice
wrote. “I do absolutely EVERY THING BY MYSELF. I finance my own
career and push my own music while Dem siddung inna A/C Inna
dem office every day a drink red wine. This was the biggest mistake
I’ve made in my entire life.”
Spice says she signed a record deal with VP Records in 2009 and
that was a big mistake. She said every year the label promised to
release her album and she has been voicing songs for the project but
to no avail.

“Up to this day, from 2009 they have not released an album with me,
and so I’m ready now to battle with them in court because I have to
fight for my fans, my fans need an album from me,” Spice said. “They
(VP) have left me with no other resort but to fight them to get out of
this contract. I’ve just started the process because I’ve given them
10 years.”

Spice hosted her birthday party last weekend at Oneil’s Place on
Hagley Park Road in Kingston. The celebration saw a number of fans
and her celebrity friends coming out to support her.

Neymar
Neymar

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) — Neymar used a sponsor's ad to admit he
exaggerated some of his reactions after being fouled during the World
Cup in Russia. The video, published Sunday and broadcast on several
Brazilian TV networks, features the striker accepting criticism for the
first time and promising to pick himself up.

The striker scored two goals in the tournament and was not too
disappointing until his team got knocked out by Belgium in the
quarter-finals, but fans and players have spoken much more about his
theatrics on the pitch, which included dives, rolling and frequent
arguing with referees.
"You may think I exaggerate. And sometimes I do exaggerate. But the
truth is I suffer on the pitch," Neymar said in the ad sponsored by
personal care products maker Gillette.
Since Brazil's elimination, Neymar only spoke about the defeat in
Russia via Instagram. In the ad he tried to explain why he did not
speak right after the Belgium game, which fostered even more
criticism of his behaviour at home.
"When I leave without giving interviews it is not because I only want
the victory laurels. It is because I still haven't learned to disappoint
you. When I look impolite, it is not because I am a spoiled kid. It is
because I have not learned how to be frustrated," the player said.

Neymar said his football style is akin to a boy's that "sometime
charms the world, sometimes irritates the whole world."
''I fight to keep that boy alive inside of me, but not on the pitch," he
said.
"You may think I fall too much," Neymar continued. "But the truth is I
did not fall. I fell apart," he said, in a reference to Brazil's
quarter-finals elimination against Belgium. "That hurts more than
any step on an operated ankle."
The piece ends with Neymar's pledge to be a new man less than a
month after Brazil was knocked out of the World Cup.

"I took long to accept your criticism. I took long to look at myself in
the mirror and become a new man," Neymar said. "I fell, but only who
falls can pick himself up."
Neymar ends his ad asking fans to make a choice.
"You can keep casting stones. Or throw these stones away and help
me stand. When I stand, all of Brazil stands with me," he said.
On July 20, at his first public appearance after the World Cup, Neymar
did not talk about his exaggerations. Instead, he said he wasn't
upset with critics that made fun of his theatrics in Russia.

Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne

Weezy was booked as Cardi B's replacement; the Migos set was a

casualty of weather violations.
Lil Wayne came in as a super sub for Cardi B this weekend, but not
everything went as planned. The former cash millionaire had to
cancel last minute due to "travel issues." The festival who'd booked
both Cardi and Lil Wayne, Panorama in NYC, tried in vain to secure a
2nd replacement but came up short. Thankfully Janet Jackson held
down her headliner spot, and performed as scheduled yesterday evening.

Cardi B who had booked her spot well in advance, had to cancel due
to post-pregnancy issues (caring for a baby, all that). Lil Wayne on
the other hand was left stranded at the airport as his flight was
delayed. The festival made the announcement via Twitter as soon as
they received notice from Lil Wayne and his reps. Their message to ticket
holders:

"Due to weather conditions, Lil Wayne’s flight has been
delayed and he is unable to perform tonight,” a message
projected on-stage read. “He was looking forward to
performing for his NYC fans and plans to come back as soon
as possible."

To make matters worse, the entire first night of the festival had to
cancelled due to impeding weather conditions. Would-be performances
from Dua Lipa, the War on Drugs, Migos , the Weeknd, Father John
Misty, Yaeji were all casualties of the storm. This time last year, the
Panorama Music Festival was scene to a collapsed stage during Isaiah
Rashad ’s set.

Kodak Black
Kodak Black

Kodak Black is weeks away from being released from jail, and he is
already prepping some new music.

The Pompano Beach rapper was initially slated to leave jail sometime
in October of this year, but now his release date has been moved up
to August 18. Kodak Black got the good news after his attorney filed a
motion in Broward County for him to be granted an additional 30
days of time already serves. A judge approved the motion and the
Broward County Sheriff Office now listed his new release date as
August 18, 2017.

Kodak Black was initially facing up to a decade in prison for gun and
drug charges following an arrest in January of this year. In April,
the “Tunnel Vision” rapper had some of the charges against him
dropped and was sentenced to one year in jail after pleading guilty
to two counts of probation violation. He was credited with time
served which reduced his sentencing.
Kodak also received his High School Diploma last month, and now he
is prepping new music ahead of his release from jail. “New music
coming soon stay tune,” he tweeted this week.

It’s unclear if Project Baby will be dropping a full-length project or
a single song when he leaves the slammer.

Kanye West

Kanye West is reportedly dealing with a family crisis after his dad
was diagnosed with cancer.

Kanye West has been dealing with a lot over the past year. The
G.O.O.D. Music rapper was hospitalized in November last year for a
mental break down. For the months ensued that incident, he
remained under the radar until around May when he popped back up
to stir up some controversies where he infamously said “slavery was
a choice .” Ye bounced back from that with a series of album releases
that made fans totally forget he is an “azz.”

Turns out that Kanye West has been dealing with a crisis in his
family. RadarOnline reported that Ye’s father, Ray West, was
diagnosed with stomach cancer last year spring and has been
getting treatment ever since then. The “College Dropout” rapper’s
stepmom, Cheryl Carmichael West, confirmed the news.

The unfortunate cancer diagnosis comes on the heels of the 10-year
anniversary of Kanye’s mom Donda West’s death. She passed away
in 2007 following a plastic surgery procedure. Ye was very close with
his mom and has been close with his dad since her death.

Vybz Kartel Blackberry smartphone evidence

Was the “fine fine” text message evidence in Vybz Kartel case sent
three days after Lizard’s murder.

One of the prosecutors in Vybz Kartel ‘s case, Orrett Brown, says the
controversial chop up “fine fine” text message was sent three days
after the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Defense attorneys and
prosecutors row in court earlier this week over the validity of a text
message sent from a Blackberry smartphone seized from Kartel
where he admitted to killing Clive “Lizard” Williams.
According to the defense, Williams was killed on August 16, 2011, but
the text message lifted from the Blackberry was sent six weeks
before that date. Assistant Director of Public Prosecution, Orrett
Brown, told the Court of Appeal that the defense attorneys statement
on the validity of the text message is a “misapprehension of the
evidence.”

Brown told the court that it was that file containing the text
message evidence that was created six weeks before the murder.
However, the text itself was sent from the phone three days after the
gruesome murder of Clive Williams. Let’s not forget that Williams’
body was never found.
“Between me and you a chop wi chop up di bwoy Lizard fine fine and
dash him weh nuh. As long as wi a live dem can never find him,” the
text message reads.

There was another text message that was sent out by the cell phone
after it was taken from Vybz Kartel. Brown says investigators likely
sent that message to find out the phone number of the sim card. He
said this is a standard procedure used by law enforcement
especially in a case where a phone is locked.
Regarding four phone calls that were made by said phone while it’s
in police custody, Brown could not offer up an explanation for those
calls. Defense attorneys contend that the cell phone was tampered
with by police officers and evidence was fabricated to secure a
conviction.

The Court of Appeal judges are now deliberately the case.

Vybz Kartel Case 2018
Vybz Kartel From Court

Vybz Kartel defense attorneys think police fabricate the text message evidence in his murder case.

The defense team and the prosecution wrapped up their arguments in the Jamaica Court of Appeal on Tuesday of this week. Defense attorney Isat Buchanan argued in court that the text message where Vybz Kartel send to another unnamed person about chopping up Clive “Lizard” Williams “fine fine” was doctored by police officers. At the heart of the defense team’s contention is that police tampered with the BlackBerry smartphone seized from Kartel while it’s in their possession.

A text message was sent from the phone weeks after the dancehall deejay was arrested in Kingston and charged with murder. The same phone was also used to make four calls while in police custody and during the trial a senior cop testified during the trial where he was asked about the calls sent out by said phone and he didn’t have an explanation.

The text message that came back under the microscope in the appeal trial was sent from said phone. “Between me and you a chop wi chop up di bwoy Lizard fine fine and dash him weh nuh. As long as wi a live dem can never find him,” Kartel said in the text message.

Defense attorney Isat Buchanan argued in court that the cell phone was improperly accessed by police officers up to five times and the text message evidence admitted in court was “not in their purest form.” Buchanan said the law enforcement doctored the phone evidence to read in a particular manner that would more likely lead to a conviction. According to the prosecution, Vybz Kartel admitted to the murder in that text message.

“It is submitted that the five times that the phone was accessed by the police would have presented opportunities for someone within the unit to apply the process call anti-forensic technique which amounts to tampering, and is therefore illegal, and that software can be used to manipulate the time stamps on the messages,” Buchanan told the court.

The three Court of Appeal judges who presided over the case are now deliberating the case, but they did not indicate when a verdict would be reached. President of the Court of Appeal Justice Dennis Morrison says he will put priority on the case given the vast public and media interest surrounding it.

Popcaan Smoking

Popcaan went on a hotel in Montego Bay last weekend after her and his entourage got kicked out.

The Unruly Boss posted an angry clip on Instagram that has since been deleted letting the management at Half Moon Hotel in Mobay know about his grouses. According to Popcaan, he booked a Villa from the famous hotel as he was in town for a big performance at Reggae Sumfest. He added that upon his arrival, he was barred from entering the property despite booking in advance and paying US dollars.

The dancehall star says all the employees know him and he book the same villa on several occasions before this incident. “Now, me book villa and pull up a villa and unuh a tell people no let in Popcaan and unuh know Popcaan,” the deejay fumes. “Anybody who tell them say don’t let me in, manager or ‘galager’ go s**k you mother.”

A rep for the hotel said Popcaan arrived with a excessively large entourage and they asked him to book a second villa to accommodate his crew, and he refused and stormed off the property. Despite the incident, Popcaan delivered a solid set at Reggae Sumfest on Friday night.

Diamond Platnumz and Rich Mavoko

After an awkward relationship between Diamond Platnumz and his record label Wasafi Records, singer Rich Mavoko seems to have called it quits. The singer, who was signed at the record label and hoped to increase his reach through out Africa, ended up releasing only three song under the label while other members kept on churning hits after hits.

Missing information

A quick look at Instagram accounts of all Wasafi signed artists such as Harmonize and Rayvanny, you’ll see their profile still has the tag identifying them as Daimond signees unlike Mavoko’s. He has not released an official statement yet and neither has Diamond.

Vybz Kartel faith is now sitting in the hands of three Court of Appeal
judges.

Some of Vybz Kartel fans will not be too happy about this piece of
news, while others will sit tight and wait for the appeal court to
reach a verdict, which could take weeks or months. The bottom line is
Kartel and his co-accused will not be freed this month. Gazanation
fans were hoping that the aced dancehall star would walk free from
prison this month, or at least know his fate, but that will not happen.
The defense and prosecution wrapped their presentation in the
Jamaica court of appeal on Tuesday (July 24th). President of the
Court of Appeal Justice Dennis Morrison told the court that the
judges have not yet reached a verdict in the week and a half appeal
case. Morrison also revealed that he would not give any indication
when a verdict will be reached but will give the case priority due to
the level of public interest.
Appeal cases in Jamaica can sometimes take weeks to months before a
verdict is reached as the judges carefully examine each appeal case
before handing down a ruling. Vybz Kartel case is a bit unusual in
both the length of the trial and the high level of media and public
interest.
A typical appeal case in Jamaica is roughly three days, but Kartel’s
case lasted eight days in the appeal court with the defense taking up
five days to present their arguments. Let’s also not forget that the
2014 murder trial is the longest murder trial in Jamaica’s history.
Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is now serving life
for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. The “Fever” deejay along
with his three co-accused, Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, and Andre
St John, filed an appeal to have their conviction overturned.
The defense teams argued in court last week that the judge handed
down several questionable rulings and appeared bias against the
accused men in his summation of the evidence. The defense team
also put the prosecution on blast for some unethical decision
regarding allowing the jury to deliberate even though it was tainted.
The defense team, headed by Queens Council Valrie Neita-Robertson,
put some of the evidence under the microscope that she said was
mishandled by law enforcement and may have even tampered with a
cell phone seized from Kartel.
The prosecution claps back saying that some 19 circumstantial
evidence was used to convict the four men and they should remain
in prison.
